CHECK FOR DIASTASIS RECTI

The reason we advise to let us know if you have children is because some of the exercises in the 30-Day Belly Blast Challenge may not be suitable for women who have what is called diastasis recti, which often happens as a result of pregnancy.

Diastatis recti is a gap in the connective tissue of the abdomen that often occurs with pregnancy, and makes losing belly fat more difficult.

Therefore, before purchasing the Belly Blast Challenge, please test for it as follows:

1. Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat.

2. Take 2 fingers and place on your belly, above the navel (fingers pointing toward your feet).

3. Lift your neck only (not shoulders) and press your fingers down. 

 

Do you feel a space/gap the width of about 2-3 fingers?

* Repeat below your navel as well.

If you do not feel a space/gap, you're good to go and may sign up for the Belly Blast Challenge.

> Head back to the sign up form and continue.

If you do feel a space/gap, you have diastasic recti, and have 2 options:

 

Option 1: If the space/gap is small (about the width of 1 finger), you may participate in the Belly Blast Challenge, but let us know so that we can monitor the size of the space throughout the challenge.

> Head back to the sign up form and continue.

Option 2: If the space/gap is large (wider than 2 fingers), we recommend you do not participate in the Belly Blast Challenge, as some of the exercises may actually make the gap wider.

Diastasis recti can be improved by strengthening the core muscles to close the gap, but takes time and consistency.

We are in the process of researching and developing a core strengthening program for women with diastasis recti, so if you are unable to join the Belly Blast Challenge at this time, please fill in the form below and we will keep you updated on said program in the near future.
